Seeing + Seen
These images were shot in various locations just before and after the turn of the 21st century. Revisiting them now, at a remove of more than two decades, has allowed for a second, deeper engagement with the subjects themselves, slower and closer, a meditative re-immersion in the moments and situations depicted.
A small number of these images were shot in color, then selectively de-saturated to varying degrees. The overwhelming majority, however, were shot on black + white film and have since been reimagined with color, selectively added digitally. With the intervention of color my aim is to concentrate and deepen a sense of interiority, intensifying the engagement between subject, setting and camera.
